If you buy a great-looking men's t-shirt, you might want to do whatever you can to make sure that it continues looking great. Unfortunately, t-shirts can become wrinkled if you don't wash them the proper way. Here are some tips for maintaining your favorite shirts, such as your Equal Love, basketball, men's t-shirt.
Don't Heat Up Your T-Shirts
A new cotton shirt that is made from 100% cotton fibers will not shrink as much if you minimize the amount of heat from the dryer that it is exposed to. Ideally, you should not put t-shirts in the dryer and should instead hang them from a clothesline. Do not leave your t-shirt in the sun; simply allow it to air dry. Laying a t-shirt on the counter can be enough to allow it to dry out. Consider hanging it next to a fan and allowing the air to dry it out.
Apply Cold Water and Detergent
If you are trying to get a stain out of your t-shirt, treat it with cold water and detergent before throwing it in the wash. You won't have to wash your t-shirt as much to get the stain out and your t-shirt will look much better. When you keep running the t-shirt through the wash to remove a small stain, you will be potentially ruining your t-shirt while trying to correct a small problem.
Run a Cold Cycle
When you are using a cold cycle, make sure to use a detergent that is designed specifically for a cold cycle. Otherwise, the results might not be what you were looking for.
Treat the Wrinkles
When your t-shirt does get wrinkles, you can use an iron at a very low temperature. Or, you could use a de-wrinkle spray. You can either purchase a de-wrinkle spray or you can make your own with white vinegar and conditioner. Also, you can make a de-wrinkle spray by simply diluting detergent with water.
Be Careful with Graphics
When you are hanging your t-shirt to dry, one of the worst results is when you have a graphic that becomes cracked. Fortunately, you can avoid this by turning your t-shirt inside out while waiting for it to air dry. The graphic will also be less likely to fade because it will not be exposed to as much sunlight.
Even when you follow all of these rules, your t-shirts might wrinkle to some extent. However, they will be much less likely to wrinkle after following these rules.
